Oaxacan Café & Bar · Oakland
Seven Moles.
One Soul.
From the kitchens of Oaxaca to the heart of Oakland — handmade tortillas, slow-simmered moles, and a mezcal bar that tells the story of the south.
Seven Authentic Moles
Negro, colorado, verde, amarillo, manchamanteles, chichilo & poblano — each simmered for hours.
Handmade Tortillas
Stone-ground nixtamal, pressed to order. Corn so fresh you can taste the difference.
Mezcal & Tequila Bar
Curated small-batch mezcals from Oaxaca, plus a rotating selection of craft cocktails.
Our Story
Built on memory and
made with purpose.
El Taco Oaxaco was born from a simple conviction: that the flavors of Oaxaca deserve a home in Oakland. Not a re-creation, not a shortcut — the real thing, made the way abuelas have been making it for generations.
Our moles start before dawn. The nixtamal is stone-ground daily. The tortillas are pressed by hand and cooked on a comal the moment you order. It takes longer. It tastes worth it.
We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're trying to be the place where Oaxacan food is treated with the reverence it deserves — and where Oakland neighbors feel at home the moment they walk in.
